Electrical Load Calculator '17 1.0

The Electrical Load Calculator is a convenient tool that facilitates the determination of the minimum electrical load demand for single and multifamily residences according to the Standard Calculation Method outlined in Article 220 of the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC®). This application streamlines the procedures of the Standard Calculation Method by dividing complex calculations into more manageable segments and carrying out mathematical computations automatically.

The Electrical Load Calculator assesses grounded and ungrounded loads for various purposes such as general lighting, fixed appliances, dryers, cooking equipment, heating and air conditioning systems, as well as the largest motor. The computed loads are aggregated to ascertain the total service load for either a single-family or multifamily dwelling. Each dwelling's calculation can be assigned a unique name and saved for later reference. The results of the calculations can be shared via email, including the load values used in the assessment.

The estimated electrical load demand serves as a basis to determine the appropriate size of service-entrance conductors needed for the residence in accordance with the NEC®. The correct sizing of conductors is essential for ensuring the safety and effectiveness of the service.
